A Very Good Weekend

This weekend was wonderful!
Yea for Cookies made in a Kitchen Aid!

On Friday evening, Jon and I worked on reliving our the first 3 dates that started it all by making cookies and lemon bars to give away to friends. This is what we did on the second date we had with each other (the one where he finally asked me out!!!) It was fun to use our new Kitchen Aid (thank you!) and to spend the evening chilling.

Late Saturday morning/early afternoon Jon and I went to watch my 7th graders play on the school football team. We cheered on my kids, talked to a few before and after their game, and soaked up some sun.

Later that evening I joined Jon for the first half of the BYU v. Texas game down in the Campus Plaza lounge. After the first hour I left him to pick up my friends I made over spring/summer--Emily and Julie--and the three of us crashed my apartment where we played Banana Grams and talked.

Today Jon and I were sustained to serve as the youth Sunday school teachers in our ward. It's a combined class--with all the youth ages 12-18, and we get to teach together. It will be a couple weeks before we get to teach our first class (because of Regional Conference and the Ogden Temple Re-dedication) but we are thrilled and can't wait to start!

This evening we went over to my Uncle Steve and Aunt Milli's house for a delicious homemade Cafe Rio meal! It was the perfect way to break our fasts. After the yummy food we played Banana Grams. We look forward to going back to their place on Thursday evening to watch BYU take on Huston.

Life is busy and so good. Good friends. Good callings. Good food. Good activities. Good family. Good games. Good husband. Good God. More than anything, it was so good to have time this weekend to find a peace and closeness to God that I haven't felt in a long time. I love Him and am grateful that He's always there for me, even when I mess-up and fail and feel like I deserve no second chances. Because of His Son, though, there always is a second chance as long as I'm willing to work for it. I can't wait to face the adventures of the coming week with Him at my side.

Jon and I at the Salem Jr. High football game!

The AWESOME Crew! Aren't I lucky to have such AMAZING friends?!

Dear Brad, I'll spit in a cup for you any day. I'd do pretty much anything for a guy as awesome, Christ-like, and charitable as you.

Dear Brady, Thanks for showing me how to spin a bowling ball crazy cool. And for being crazy cool yourself. And for beating me. By one point. On the last bowl. (No--I'm not resentful....)

Dear Holly, You can do it! Bowling, classes, being beautiful, and being all around super awesome! Thanks SO MUCH for coming with us on such late notice! Have fun in Alaska on your cruise!

Dear Spencer, It's not fair that you that you wouldn't let me pay for your bowling. It was supposed to be a gift. And the $5 you gave me was more than the cost for two people. I suppose I'll let you get away with being super awesome.

Dear Eric, Thanks for wearing the princess crown without even complaining. And the blue socks. And for your sweet, sweet message on the ward facebook page. You are one of the most genuinely kind and good people that I know.

Dear Amelia, You make great faces. Both on and off camera. (Another reason why I love you!) Keep smiling! (And puckering. And grimacing. And puffing. And goofy-ing.)

Dear Rachel, You are more photogenic than you think. I love you. And your laugh. And being your roommate. And seeing you every morning when I wake-up.

Everyone's crazy cool socks

Watching General Conference with the fam!
Dear FHE Family, Having yummy German apple pancakes together on Saturday morning and delicious curry Sunday evening all while watching conference in-between was the best!  You guys really are my family away from home. Thanks for being so super awesome.

Tara (Audrey's roommate), Audrey (Pister's sister), Pister, Emily, and I around the fire
Dear Ward Friends, Bonfire Saturday night + talking 'till 2am + sleeping on gimongous bean bags + waking up to the smell of Piste's wonderful cinnamon rolls on Sunday Morning + watching Sunday morning conference together = the break from life that I needed. Eliza--thanks for letting us all bombard your house for the evening/morning. It was the best.

Dear General Conference, Thanks for the uplift, promptings, reassurances, love, and all-around awesomeness. You're just as good as Christmas.

Dear Sabrina Sears, Thanks so extremely super much for calling me when your ward was on campus yesterday. Hugs were just what I needed at the moment, and I got a million of them from you guys. You totally turned my disheartening day into an happy one.

Dear Daniel, Thanks for inviting us over to play mafia last night. I really needed a break from homework.

Dear Heavenly Father, The best part about yesterday wasn't that it went from bad to good, but knowing that it went from bad to good because you answered my prayers and care. Thank you.

Dear Brad Horman, Thanks for inviting me to play soccer in the underground parking lot of the JFSB! It was SUPER fun!

Dear Team Giraffe, As a future teacher, I give our team double A's for having Awesome Attitudes! (I know, it's cheesy, get over it). I'm pretty sure we're the bestest soccer team the JFSB underground parking lot has ever seen!

Dear Other Team, You all played beautifully, but don't let the fact that we let you win settle down too comfortably in your heads. There will be a next time, and who's to say Team Giraffe will be feeling as charitable then.

Dear Giraffe Hat, Once again, you are like the John Powell on my iPod, the peanut butter on my sandwich, and the "3 day" in my weekend: you never fail to let me down. Thanks for guarding our goal post tonight while we played soccer. Our team came to the conclusion that without your help, we would have lost worser. Our team is pretty smart.

Dear Merrick Johnson, Your post on Marissa's blog made my day (http://totesthebestblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/feature-post-with-merrick.html). I read it at work and it was really hard not to laugh out loud. You're a pretty cool kid.

Dear Eliza Wilson, Thanks for laughing at my joke today in the library. It makes people feel good when others laugh at their jokes, especially the not very funny ones.

Dear Mr. "I think you giving me a title implies that I'm a superior", How many pieces does this mastermind puzzle have? I'm super busy and only have so much time to devote to puzzle solving. Plus, does it really change a little every time I guess wrong? Isn't that called multiple personality disorder or something?
